- "Mr. President," TV reporter Sam Donaldson yelled out at Reagan after a 1982 press conference, "In talking about the continuing recession tonight, you've blamed the mistakes of the past and you've blamed Congress. Does any of the blame belong to you?" Reagan responded, "Yes, because for many years I was a Democrat."
- "I hope you're all Republicans," he told doctors who were about to operate on his bullet wounds.
- "Did we forget that government is the people's business, and every man, woman and child becomes a shareholder with the first penny of taxes paid?"

Memorial Day Parade
Piscataway Republicans joined in commemoration of Memorial Day by showing our patriotic colors. Marching the parade path on May 31st were council candidates Brian Farrell, Jerry Gonzalez and Salim Nathoo, and mayoral candidate, Helen Merolla. In step with family, members of the Piscataway Republican Organization and friends, the marchers sported red, white and blue hats while distributing candy to the delight of children along the parade route. An added treat was the eye-catching antique car owned and driven by Joseph Schilp of Saddle Brook.
Welcoming applause greeted the marchers as they made their way and a great time was enjoyed by the participants.
